So the Blur beta from Activision and Bizarre Creations has been going swimmingly. I am absolutely floored by this racing game. In fact, I’m surprised that I even like it since I don’t tend to play racing games all that often. I think its the fact that it is easy to get into and has awesome power-ups. Would you like to get in on this too?

Turns out that there are more codes available to the friends of people who already are in the beta. We’ve got a few sign-up codes that will get you into the beta once you register on their site. Don’t forget, the beta also gives you a code for a Xbox Live 48 hour trial.

By the way, I don’t need any of the codes I have for the trials since I am a gold member of XBL. So in addition to giving away beta sign-up keys I will be giving away a few of the trial codes as well.

Just comment below with a valid e-mail address and pick one: Blur w/Trial or just the Trial.

For a while now, I’ve been getting my anime fix from HULU. Netflix is still my main choice for getting them delivered, but between discs I jump online to have the juicy animation streamed directly into my brain. (Well almost!)

This week’s feature is Buso Renkin, an anime that was created from a manga of the same name. Buso Renkin is also called Armored Alchemist, which is what the show is about. It is all centered around Kazuki Muto, who is an average high school student until his is killed by a homunculus. Homunculus are one of the two types of alchemy and are evil, human devouring creatures. The other type is an alchemist warrior who uses the buso renkin devices to gain a more temporary ability and destroy the homunculus.

The problem for Kazuki is that a buso renkin is implanted in his chest to keep him alive and also creating a reason for him to become and stay an alchemist warrior. Eventually it turns out that his buso renkin is one of three that were converted into another type of buso renkin, and this eventually causes problems.

The story in itself is great, though I never read the manga so I do not know how true to the story it is. The animation is excellent as are the character designs. This is a very engaging anime as I’ve been watching it for the last few months. If you like alchemy, give this a watch.

It was just a few weekends ago that I was down at the mall in Rochester, MN. My girlfriend and I stumbled into an Air Traffic Kites & Games store. We immediately found a game that she had been looking for, but then proceeded to peruse the store some more. After all, who can help it when there are just that many board games and other toys around? It wasn’t too long before I started looking at a game called Redneck Life.

That’s when a voice chimed in from behind me, one of the store employees. He says to me, “It’s like Life; except you don’t start with any money, you gain several step children named Darryl, and the winner is the person with the most teeth left.” “Boy”, I thought, “Sounds like a hoot, I better tell the girl about this.” Next thing you know, we’re walking out of the store with a box in hand.

Let me describe how an average game goes, as we’ve played it with our roommates a few times now. You roll two dice; one red and one blue. This gives you your redneck name. Examples are: Cletus Lee, Billy Bob, Jebediah Lee, etc. Play starts with the person with the largest shoe size. I was very happy with this rule until another person moved in and had bigger feet than me.

You roll around the board and there are several places to stop, just like in regular Life. The stops determine you education level with the dice, up to grade 12, which determines your job. Example, a roll of 5 gave me a 5th grade education and the job as the Ciggy Shack Attendant. Then you end up getting Hitched and House and you can guess that you also roll for you wife’s name as well. Then you get divoriced, then re-married, a quick chance at some lottery money and then the games over.

Wait, don’t leave just yet. There is a lot more to the game as most of the time you will land on the Go Redneckin’ space where you draw a card that make you do stuff. Mostly bad. Like running over my Ciggy Shack and putting me out of work.

Don’t forget about the debt. Nearly everything you do in Redneck Life gives you debt whether it be purchasing a car or house or TV. At the end, if you haven’t paid it all up and are out of money, the rest comes out of your teeth.

I really liked this game, the rules are easy to remember once you’ve played a few times. Better yet is the fact that everyone has enjoyed it so far. Its really fun to get into character and slang your words all the time. You can bet that I give this game my two thumbs up, if not simply for the fact that my girlfriend really liked it as well.

Ok, so sometime during the night the Multiplayer Madness video leaked onto Youtube. This morning Bungie “officially” released the video onto their Youtube account. What really happened is that the video was on several press release sites and it just so happens that the way the time zones work, Asia gets it first. The video and my thoughts on it are after the jump.

The first word mentioned is “Loadouts”. Obviously you can see that you can switch your gear around for a preferred combination of armor and perhaps weapons. The most noticeable being the jet pack as gaining height advantage is always key. What you may not noticed until looking closer is that one of the Spartans has active camo on. I also see what looks like a small personal shield.

Assassinations, the second word. We’ve already known from previous statements made about Reach that there will be a stealthy assassination mode. Looks like this IS for multi-player as well!

What is Invasions? Perhaps it is the game type? My thought is that it will be similar to the Firefight game type available currently for ODST. In this case you would be defending reach from, what else but, an invasion.

Headhunter also looks to be another game type coming to Reach. It looks like you’ll be taking skulls that fall from the dead bodies of other players. Perhaps they got those skulls from killing other players themselves? Its pretty much un-known at this point.

The Elites are a playable character again. It seems that maybe there is a “Spartan VS. Elites” mode as the words in the video suggest.

The Arena seems nothing other than that, an arena. Perhaps it will be a massive Spartan training ground? Perhaps something more?

We find out more when the Reach beta beings on May 3rd.
