New Site For Your Geeky Needs
Well it's happened, I've joined up with my fellow Team Hack-A-day members to collaborate on a new project.  I'm officially presenting to you, ahead of schedule, a site that is for geeks, by geeks.   What I truly mean to say is that we are going to be like your geeky co-worker, bringing stuff to you that we think you'll find interesting.  Whether it be info about making beer, what games to play...
Review – Motorola X205 Xbox 360 Headset
I made a recent Woot.com purchase of this headset simply for the fact that it was a Xbox 360  accessory and it was very, very inexpensive.  It was so cheap, at a price of $3.99, that I felt the need to buy two just to justify the $5.00 shipping.  I don't think I even stopped to really read the description or even the picture. I eventually received both headsets, or this article obviously wou...
LOTRO Goes Free
Coming very quickly, as in this fall, The Lord Of The Rings Online will be turning into a free to play game. “Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is bringing quality games based on The Lord of the Rings to multiple platforms, and the franchise’s expansive adventure story lends itself perfectly for LOTRO free-to-play, giving a wide range of players the opportunity to experience the game...
R.I.P. PS3 LINUX
Dearly Departed, We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of our dear friend PS3 Linux. It is always a tragedy when somebody so young is taken from us. One thing is certain, we have lost something preciou...
Nyko Apologized To Me
Just last week I got a little angry that Nyko Lied To Me since they goofed up when I asked them about a pre-order item from BestBuy.com. Last night I received a direct Twitter message from them stating: "We have seen your blog post and would like to apologize for the confusion. We were going by BestBuy.com's description and NOT the SKU number. We should have checked the SKU number, and for ...

Mirror’s Edge 2 Viral Site?

Posted By: Snorkle256 on January 19, 2009 in Beta, News, Video Games, Xbox - Comments: 3 Comments »

It’s well known that Mirror’s Edge is but the first in a slated trilogy. The question is not will it be made, but when?

An interesting site has popped up recently in the ARG World (alternate reality game). Args can be used as viral marketing and are mostly effect. Whether this is one or not remains to be seen, but it is off to a good start.

The website, you see, is www.pirandellokruger.com. You’d recognize the name as the security firm in the world of Mirror’s Edge. For a while the site was under construction with the words “No Red Doors here yet”. However, that has changed as the site now features and open door and the words “Got Faith?”

Now here comes the fun part and requires the use of some skills most people playing ARGs have. Looking at the source code of the website shows a hidden meta tag of 88.7 (Which shows up frequently in Mirror’s Edge and was apparently the file size of the demo.) with the content “”They’ve found us, stay off the wires, Exif only.”

What is Exif you ask? Exif is a format for embedding information into photos such as dates, times, camera models. Looking into the photo of the open red door reveals this.

The Truth
They’ve won, it’s over, what now?
Nowhere to hide, no doors, no flow, no trust, nothing…
Only white, too much white.

New November/

Now, breaking down the numbers into pairs and replacing them with the corresponding letter of the alphabet spells out “Mirrors Edge Two”

Still, this begs the question of “When?” It is possible that the game will be out in November as it evidently referenced. However, New November might just stand for another event within the game’s world as the original November was the riots that took place.

This is all that has been revealed at the moment and if you’d like to keep tabs on the site take a look at the Unfiction Forum, as this is where am keeping tabs as well.

It looks like their hosting expired a bit ago and now it is just another unused site. My guess is that it was either just a fan creation that fell apart, or that it was going to be an actual viral site but something happened to release. It is possible that the developer’s were getting ready to let some info out, but their publisher blocked them and change something. It wouldn’t be the first time, the same exact thing happened to Bungie last year at E3.
